What is Musculoskeletal Medicine?
Musculoskeletal Medicine is the diagnosis and treatment of those spine, joint and soft tissue problems which can be managed without surgical intervention. These include mobility and nerve dysfunctions, rheumatological and arthritic conditions, occupational and sports injuries, and acute and chronic back pain. The treatments assist in relieving pain by incorporating aspects of physical therapy, spinal manipulation, joint, ligament and muscle injections and acupuncture.
What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a safe and natural system for diagnosing, treating and preventing a wide range of health problems. It recognises the essential role of the musculoskeletal system in the healthy functioning of the individual. The skeleton, muscles, ligaments, connective tissues and internal structures work together in unison. An osteopath will aim to restore and maintain the integrity and balance of the body by applying physical manipulation, stretching techniques, and targeted massage to relieve pain, restore normal function, and aid recovery. Advice is provided on self-care and exercise, including rehabilitation following surgery, or injury.
